Strengthening the Guide Community

Built by guides and industry professionals, the Outdoor Guide Association offers benefits and services to help professional fishing guides maintain complete health. Strong, healthy guides create better client experiences and keep our industry and community vibrant, engaged, and thriving.

Welcome to the Outdoor Guide Association.

We promote and support holistic health for professional outdoor guides in order to facilitate safe experiences on and off the water; protect the natural resources on which our work depends; and foster resilient communities for ourselves, our families, and our industry.

OGA members enjoy a wide range of exclusive benefits. These include access to industry-specific insurance products, health plans, and mental health resources in one easy-to-access online location. Whatever your specific need or challenge, the Outdoor Guide Association can connect you to resources to help resolve your problem.

OGA offers resources encouraging our community to be good stewards of our natural resources, engage in community outreach, and by offering access to proper training in the event of an emergency on or off the water.

Founded in Montana, the OGA is the one-stop-shop for professional guides in all states.

~Active guide on mental health

Whether you’re rowing whitewater or fishing around brown bears or hammerheads, there’s a certain tough-guy/gal pride that comes with being a fishing guide. That pride is hard-earned but often comes with an invincible attitude, where heavy drinking, shaky finances, and an unstable personal life are part of the equation. As guides, we’ve all been there. Personal issues left unchecked and untreated, over time, erode a person’s well-being, both mentally and physically.”
